Reset Security System?

I removed my cluster and it seems to have set a security fault in my car. I can't get my car to start now, but if i try and lock my car, its gives me the chime that indicates i'm unable to lock the car. Anyone know how to reset a 97 E36 stock car alarm system?
Andy

Do you mean the electronic security system with the key chain button you push, or the 4-digit code you punch in to the onboard computer?

I went to a shop that sells aftermarket alarm systems. There some goos ones from viper. the ones that talk and have radar and everything to scare away thieves.

The guy took one look at the car and said by changing to his alarm it would be a step backward as the stock factory alarm was already sufficient. just don't loose the key...

Btw, wats the operational life of the little battery inside the key?
