window is possessed!

Having a weird problem on my 97 E36. I'll be driving along and the drivers side window will randomly start moving up and down as if a ghost was quickly pressing the power window button up and down. It only move an inch or 2 in both directions, but its still very annoying. What gives?

Regards

Jason

I suspect you need a new switch. (usually from something spilling into switch)

I have a similiar problem. My driver's side doesn't go up and down by itself, rather it goes up only in 1" increments. I heard it was something with a magnet being off alignment inside the door panel near the switch, or something like that. I'll see if I can find where I saw the DIY on it.

By the way, Jason, your car is very nice! Can i ask what degree of window tint you have? I need to get it.

thanks for the replies. I noticed something earlier today. If the window is about an inch from rolling up all the way, I can pull the door handle from the inside and it moves up all the way. Of course after a while it moves back down a bit...weird.

as far as the tint, i'm really not sure, was like that when i got it

Yes, it's the magnetic ring on the motor shaft. Here's the link:
