ews help on 320 to 328 e36 conversion

hi all.
I'm new to this forum and it seems I should have joined up sooner rather than later. I have a 94 320i, reading the forums this car does not have ews.
I bought a low mileage 328i (95 or 96 still tbc!) with it came the ecu, chipped key, engine, gearbox, diff, engine wiring harness. Being an idiot who's built a few cars but doesn't know the detail of these motors I did not get the ews box and ignition ring sensor from the 328i.

Problem: Although ive not fired the motor due to fear of damaging something electrical, I'm worried the car wont start with the 328 engine, 328 ecu and 328 engine harness since there is nothing telling the ecu to fire up (my 94 320 dash loom does not have ews i believe?).

No problem I think to myself, I'll just get an ews kit from bmw and wire it up, but the existing 320 dash loom (which has the fusebox etc. in it (not the same as the engine wiring harnes)) is of the 94 320 type thus I will not be able to plug in an ews to configure it to the ecu. (?)

No problem I think (again), I'll just get the 328 dash loom (like I should have done from the start) which has the 328 fusebox and ews plug-in? but then i might have to get a 328 dash/instument panel aswell in order for the 328 dash loom to work!!!

I have made a big mistake and i fear it cannot be rectified.

I hope someone on here can help me. Can I get the 320 ecu remapped to suit the 328 motor? this would not require me to have the ews setup at all?

Alternativley, if i get the 328 dash loom, and an ews kit from bmw will this marry up to my 320 dashboard (I fear not).

Alternatively (2) can I bypass the ews requirement so the ecu does not require a signal from the ews box, thus it should fire with my 320 dash loom?

I have the 328 ecu, key and engine harness, can I wire in an ews kit into the existing 320 dash loom and have the ews/ecu coded? (plus alot of balling around swopping the dash loom).

Too many questions!
Tail most definatley between my legs.

Unhappy end of the line

apologies for being too vague in the last post.

my 94 320 chassis runs a EWS 1. The 95 (confirmed!) 328 runs an ews 2 system.

For the ews2 system to work I would need : ?

trx module (plus ignition barrel sensor)
dme (88pin)
ews box
lock barrels

is it possible to wire this into the 320 dash loom (fusebox etc.)?
Obviously I have the 328 engine harness.

My electrician has quoted me 700 GBPounds complete does anyone know of a source who would do it for any less? I'm based in Liverpool (UK)?

Probably going to have to put the 320 back in this weekend

It would have been cheaper buying a complete 328 in my case since I'm crossing systems between the ews1 and ews 2.

I'm well out of my depth, should have done the electrical homework.

Pete
