Speedometer-Odometer Glitch

So I was driving to the beach the other day. . . . I'm heading into the parking lot and suddenly my speedo and odo stop working. I shut the car of and restart it, nothing. By the time I'm done at the beach (2-3 hours) it is working again. No check codes or warning lights.

I suspect a loose or coroded speed sensor connection. It's an electrical plug on your diff.

if its not any of that u might have to switch out the whole cluster. because i just had to do that. all my gauge would shut off and turn back on.

I'm at this stage now(needing to replace the cluster). I would feel comfortable doing this myself but am unsure how to update the odometer to match my current cluster and am a little nervous installing it myself as a result. Any advice on how to do this or what the most cost effective method of replacing it would be?

I know this seems to be a common repair but there are no DIYs or informational posts about setting the odometer to current on a new cluster.

Thanks in advance...

wow i never saw this thread, did your tach work or not? if the tach worked, then its probably the sensor, if the tach went blank, it might be the connection to ur actual gauge cluster
