Anyone ever have this done? Just wondering what a job like that would typically run, if anyone has any info, lemme hear it.
I'm pretty convinced that water coming out of my tailpipe ALL the time means I have a bad head gasket. Don't know how much sense that makes since the coolant hasn't gone low, but I've done pretty much everything else to the engine, and my problem hasn't gone away.
No rebuild. In 2yrs time, I'll be making more serious money, and plan on getting probably a 335i. So the rebuild wouldn't make much sense to me. I just wanna change out the gasket and get this running okay enough to last till then. Even the synchros are shot on 1st & 2nd gear, and I don't even wanna do anything about it.
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.

Well, I'll wait till the head is off to buy that tool. Or not. I work in a machine shop, and it should be easy enough to make one. Looking at it, I think there are simpler ways to hold the cams, but I gotta have the head & cams in front of me to figure out why they designed the tool that way. Hopefully my head is still flat and no cracks, that way I can keep the cams on and not have to get it resurfaced. What sucks is knowing we have machinery to do this at work, but they're not set up for precision work at such close tolerances like this.
Then there's the head bolt socket tool, which Pelican is charging 52 bucks for- nothing but a thin shaft Torx socket. Anyone know where I can rent or borrow one from?
Anyway, I still have to do compression & leak down tests to confirm my suspicions, maybe this weekend.
