Horn Problems...

Hey Guys,

I have a 92 e36 the model without airbags.

I got tired of the massive and very worn steering wheel, so i sourced a boss kit that would fit my MOMO i have lying around.

I had a few minor challenges installing it due to the cheapness of the boss kit. but anyway,

the problem is that when i went to hook the horn up from my point of view its really really easy.

I've done it in other cars. theres simply a wire that goes to GND thus sounding the horn.

and on the MOMO horn, there are 2 tabs. one has an earth symbol that plugs onto a green loop wire which hooks on the little grounding plate and the other tab connects to a wire coming out of the steering column.

Being that it grounds my guess is that the + side of the circuit is complete and its the horn that acts as a N/O switch to connect the ground and complete the circuit.

My question is this.

Why when i turned the car on, and tested the horn did it sound for a split second and then stop working all together?

this puzzles me.

Help would be much appreciated

Hey guys, never mind. i guess i really should have dismantled it all and messed around. before posting this

Turns out the screws that mount the steering wheel to the boss kit weren't contacting the grounding plate properly, so after bugging my neighbours on a Sunday afternoon with incessant honking its fixed.
