hood latch problems

anybody know how to open the hood without using the lever by the driver seat? something got jammed when i was fitting some of the plastic engine covers back on and i broke the lever tring to open it i can still pull on the cable but not hard enough to open it and i fear i will break something else
the driver side seems to unlock as it can move a bit but the passenger side is really jammed. any suggestions please.

Happened to me once. If you know the lock is released and the latch itself is just jammed, you just have to keep jimmying it with a screwdriver. Mine came up eventually, but I ended up scratching a little paint.

i dont think its released yet, maybe the driver side is cause i can move it a bit but not the passenger side. and i cant move the release lever more than 1/4 of an inch...only if bmw used more metal parts instead of some of the cheap plastic ones they use haha... i dont want to do too much prying and end up bending something...

fuck i got it open by reacing behind the grill and pulling on the cable. i took the piece off i figured was blocking it and shut the hood figuring it would work now....well it doesnt fuck fuck fuck! the whole fucking thing is jammed. i dont know what to do
