Roundel on hood gone
 

Okay, so I just noticed that my hood badge is missing. Can these things fall off or did someone have to deliberately remove it to get it?

My car is usually parked inside a gate beside my cottage so it's secure. Today, I briefly parked in an alley entrance to run in and get something and I don't remember noticing it missing then.

Isn't that an easy and inexpensive part to replace? What would be the interest in stealing it?

Most likely it was stolen. Sorry to hear, replacing it shouldn't be too hard

Its only $15-20 at the dealer. Just pop the new on in and be done. No DIY needed in your case.

I finally got the new Roundel for this. Now, in an effort to remove the grommets to attach the new one they have been stripped and destroyed. How can I get to the underside of the hood to pry the grommets off?

I know in France the little hoodlums would steal them quite often

First you will need new grommets, poke the grommets out through the hood side or pull out using needle nose pliers. I pulled mine out.
