cold air intake conversion
 

hey guys,

awhile back i bought a dinan cold air intake for my 325is. its a bit too long so i think that it was for a different model, though it was said to be my model. my first question is should i cut it? its carbon fiber but i have the right tools to do it, at least thats what my friends say. if i dont cut it should i sell it and get another one? my second question is this; what is the hose that connects to my stock intake box. i think that the hose that is connected to the intake tube in between the box and engine is my mass air flow sensor, but im not sure what the other one is. it is located low on the side facing the cab. any information on what it is and if it is a vital part to keep would be great. thanx guys.

i'm not sure if you should cut it. it might not work normally. If i were you i would buy a new compatible BMW cold air intake
just to be safe. But you can consider some more detailed instruction as to how you'll cut it.

If you cut it it should work fine. Just cut it evenly and cleanly. Don't mess it up. All it is really is a pipe with a filter on the end. And which hose are you talking about? there should be a hose that has air directed from the fan going to the stock filter and a hose leaving from under the filter with a MAF sensor attached. The senor should have a wire coming from it then it should enter the throttle body.
