E30 Brake Caliper problem..check yours.
so me and my dad where cahnging out my brake rotors and pads. After we took everything apart (had to drill the passenger set screw, but my dads got machinign tools...so it wasnt a big deal) i noticed the calper wasnt moving freely like it should. Its pin number 6. The one that goes into the caliper and slides back and forth when u press the brakes. These pins on both sides seized up. My braking quliaty was going downhill fast..and i wasnt sure why. I think this explained it. i had bad vibrations from the front. This was prolly the cause. Next time u do ur brakes check this.  Its part number 10.

I just recently purchased a '91 318i. Fortunately, 11 years of timely service records came with the vehicle. Anyhow, I took the car into the shop a month ago and was told I needed new brakes. With the records stating the brakes were replaced 13,000 miles ago, I thought the repair shop was taking me for a ride. Turns out the calipers had gone bad on my car too causing the brakes to go prematurely. |

Great looking out. the brakes pads rotors and lubing up the pins had to be the first thing I did to my 1989 325is since it had been sitting under a tree for God knows how long. Before the job however i took it for a spin and needless to say it did not stop to well. Thank God no traffic was around when I had no brakes. |
