Radio & Warning Light Problem
Hi
I just found this forum and have recently bougfht a 1989 325i. I’m hoping someone here can give me some advice on a problem I’m having with the stereo and anti-lock brake warning light My daughter had a dead battery a couple of days ago and after first trying to boost the car (unsuccessful), charging the battery (which worked) and then replacing the battery we found the stereo (original Blaplumkt system with anti-theft) doesn’t work and the anti-lock brake warning light has come on. Normally when we’ve had a dead battery before I just turn the radio on and punch in the code and we’re good to go. This time we don’t even get that option as there appears to be no power going to the radio and the antenna is stuck half way up. I checked the fuses and even thing looks good and I even swapped out the fuse for the radio with a new one and nothing changed. Any suggestions on what to do next? The other anomaly was the anti-lock brake warning light coming on after we hooked up the new battery. Any idea why this would happen? Thanks Curt |
Sounds like something might have shorted maybe? Try unplugging the battery for about 30 minutes and the restarting it.

I think the stuck antenna is draining power. A guess, and my anti lock light comes on at random :deal

^^^ hahaha, I hope one day your brakes don't lock up and your just like "Oh Shit, maybe I should have payed attention to the light.":drive2

Good one :lol

When i had my battery disconected the other week when I hooked it back up and started the antilock light came on for about 3-5 seconds and went off I think it was just a battery disconnect thing. As far as the radio I was going to say try the code but you did that already, so I don't know. Good Luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try the battery disconnect idea and see what happens. I hope the antenna isn't drawing the power down or I'll be back out there trying to boost it again for my daughter
