i dont know exactly, however i do know that the m42 and the m44 are one BMW's toughest engines, in terms of reliability, i dont think he'll be disappointed

I have a 1991 E30 318i. M42. I would rather drive it then our 2001 330.

That right there explains it. Amazing car. Make sure when u test drive it there isnt a rattling around 4k..cause that might be the timing chain..and thats costly.

Other then that..Its a fun nimble car. handles great. Kills v6 mustangs . and civics speed wise.

yea beat both. Friend had a 01 v6 stang. Beat that.

I took my sisters boyfriends 05 civic with HPS package, nd numerous other civics. Obviously the car isnt an M3...but its fun none the less.

Good luck with it.

Beat Mustang and Civics? The thread posted good reliability on the M42, not acceleration
