325e mystery
 

Hi everyone just found the site and I need some help.

So a recently bought a 85 325e... guy told me it was a good running driving car so I test drove it no problems. I left the guys house drove it across town as im almost home I get off the freeway and come to a stop it dies, I start it back up go to take off it dies.. for the rest of the way home I had to rev it up to 3 grand drop it in gear and then go for a sec then it would die and coast until I would start it back up and do it again. Got it home checked all my hoses one of them was sucking shut from vacuum so I fixed that started it up drove around took it to get inspected, passed no problem. fixed it right! wrong ...the next day the wife drives it to work and it made it there no problem on her way home it started doing it again. So I went and picked her up left the car came back the next day with a trailor brought it home. I called a frend who has a shop he says the fuel pump must be bad ..150 bucks later installed it cleaned out the ICV checked for rips in the air intake checked all my vacume lines. crank her up runs strong for 20 minutes at idle while I adjust the air intake and ICV ...fixed again! wrong ... I go to back out it dies I start it back up ...I rev it up in dies... :wtf So now im stumped... I ever see that guy I got the car from he got one coming ....

any idias I dont want to spend a shit load of cash on parts that dont take care of the problem thanks! Steve

TPS sensor? (throttle position sensor)

where is that located ? you think thats what is causing it ? thanks

i do not know where exactly it is located on your car, i will research that, however i have a very strong feeling that is what it is, and also, it shouldnt cost that much to replace
