ordered the m20 harness out of a 87 325"i" today so that i can modify that to fit up with the m30 ecu. turns out my m30 harness doesn't match up and has a bunch of wires and stuff that i dont need to get it rockin and rollin!!
You should take apart the transmission and reverse all the gears so you can drive backwards in reverse at like 130 mph, and can only get up to like 40 going forward! Huh? or is that the worst idea you've ever heard...

Sweet project Devin. It would make an intense DIY. I am back in Seattle. I was in Fiji for a couple of weeks. Call me if you want a hand or just company since I don't have any idea of what I am doing.

thanks guys. i got the motor harness yesterday only to realize they didn't include the injector side of the harness. he is shipping hopefully today. I've been emailing back and forth with flyingbrickperformance about suspension and it sounds like i'll be doing the street performance kit with GC coilovers (springs F 425 R 450) Koni shocks, GC race camber plates, IE 25/22mm sways, a bunch of urethane mounts and bushings for everything, GC aluminum rear shock mounts...
Probably going with Rota Slipstreams in 16x8 with 20mm offset and stretched tires, maybe 205 (not very stretched) but if you have a deal or are selling some e30 wheels let me know.
Also looking at going with the turbochargingdynamics m30 kit good for about 350 whp or more if intercooled.
basically this car is going to be amazing!!!!

no no i'm back in seattle now. i took a job in kent working sales and marketing for a company called polar graphics. we do a bunch of corporate promotional products and souvenir/gift stuff. I'm actually talking with my fellow marketing dept artist to see about making some cool bmw shirts that i can sell at a very good price to the forums.

Motor is in!!! kinda... i'm going to have to take it back out tomorrow i think so that i can hammer out some more room. it was a bitch and a half to get in this far only to see how much more i need to space out. engine position 2 fits and i had it mounted up fine there but engine position 3 is further back and i think it almost maintains the stock weight distribution perfectly. Who knows i may get lazy, i got one side into EP 3 and the other one just won't go without more pounding. Layin here after workin on it for the last 6 hours since i got off work i'm feelin ok with doing EP 2...
