E21, E30General discussion and technical help for 1975-1991 3 series cars.
Im leaning more towards the chrome........i was going to do the same thing to mine, but i decided to stay with the chrome...............i like the contrast.
Yeah you have to go with the chrome, it would be like taking off the nose of the car is you made it black. It would be blank there, it looks great chrome.

I'm going to wash the car after work tomorrow and try to get some pics with the black and chrome that are better than my originals, black is growing on me but its still too black i think
they almost look "blacker" than the rest of the front end. maybe because they are shiny. i dunno, earlier i said chrome, but i think im starting to dig it
If you keep them you don't what all the black to match, there won't be any contrast. I think they look better how they are compared to you painting it all, but the chrome still has my vote.

I am a big fan of black, It looks really good on your car. What kind of paint did you use? I used SEM trim spray when I did mine and I also repainted the headlight grilles, I absolutely love it it just makes the car look that much meaner.

I just used some semi gloss black, i have allready had it get beat up some by rocks from my daily drive, i might slap some fresh coats on it and then a couple of clear.

You should give SEM a shot, they really raved about it on E30 tech so I searched all over town to find it and I am glad I did. It sticks to just about anything with very little prep work and is a great satin black color. I also used it to shadowline my car.
Also it does chip a bit but i really dont see anyway around it so I just submit to repainting my grill every year.

it's a little "too" black. you should reblack the slats to the left & right of it, the bumper strips, the rear black bumper portion, and the black sideskirts.
