E21, E30General discussion and technical help for 1975-1991 3 series cars.
so the other day i was bored as usuall and i did some wet pavement donuts bhind a resort by my house. I realized my front end sticks, and skips along the pavement. the rear end will kick out and i can do the donut, but my front end always jumps around and feels like its skipping.
IDK if this is because my car has shit for power or what. Normal donut=wheel turned all the way and 3 RPM drop.

E30's are just so light in the rear compaired to the front the rear kicks out very easly.
And doing dounghts doenst hurt your PS system, it more or less hurts your suspension, ball joints, bushings ect.

How? The pump isnt working and the rack isnt getting jared left or right. I would worry more about ripping out a lower ball joint before hurting a PS pump.

Numark, its probably cause the car is more or less pivoting on the front wheels so they arent always pointed in a direction that the car is going causing them to as you say skip around, sounds pretty normal to me.

The odds of doing damage is slim, but holding steering at one "stop" or the other puts ALOT of pressure on the ram and could blow out the seals. If you're out to do some "smokin' "0s", get a good head of steam then crank it hard & keep your foot in it. (Too bad you're not up here, the lakes are frozen and they are perrrrrrrrrrrfecttttt...lol)
lol. yea Nick thats a good descrip.
as for the ps..not worried about it. although i had to change my wheel bearings due to dirt drifting...godamit.
yea when i say all the way i mean almost all the way...i dont let the ps make noise.

Its pretty chuckable, being such a light car it handles very well and is a lot of fun to drive. With the Dinan Springs and the koni adjustables made it even better. Next Step is for some bigger Sway bars.
The only time the car doesn't handle well is if there is any snow present at all.
I had to change 2 wheel bearings after my adventure at the track in october, goddamn that cost too much.
