E21, E30General discussion and technical help for 1975-1991 3 series cars.
So I went in for dyno today and something was NOT right at all. The dyno graphs were all over the place and VERY VERY low. At one point it made 230whp and 304ft-lbs! WTF? Then it went as low as 170whp and 190ft-lbs. It seemed as soon as the turbo really hit full boost, the numbers were all over the place. The guy who did this dyno was utterly confused as was I. I was making full boost and it sounded fine and the rpms/speedometer shot up like it normally does. I'm still shaking my head. Funny thing is, after the dyno we went out and did a roll start against his 270whp mustang and I beat him up to 120mph pretty good.
Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Tire slip on the track? He swears it wasn't happening, but I'm not convinced. I was running rich in higher rpms, but not to the point where it would throw the numbers all over the place imo. I have videos if anyone wants them and I have a couple of the dyno graphcs. I'm at a major loss with this one... we did about 10 pulls too because all of them with numbers all over the place. Any help is appreciated.
there is probably something that is fishy with the dino, because if you guys ran it the same exact way every time, and it accelerated relatively the same amount, you shouldnt erally have that problem, or if you do, its not from the car

Thats kinda messed up. You shoulndt have differences of that much between runs. Anything of a diff more than 15hp is kinda wierd. Maybe its not getting full bost or getting full bost later or earlier in certain runs?
naw that's the thing, it made full boost every time right where it should...My thought behind it was when full boost hit, it was doing a "hydro-plaining" affect on the tracks which I have seen in the past. I just don't think it was firmly on the roller. Probably need some weight in the back or something to help.

So you'r saying that the sudden increase in power/boost was too radical for the dyno to graph it correctly?
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.

I'm not saying that, I'm saying it acted as if the rear were not making the correct contact with the track to spin it properly. maybe I was positioned wrong the track or just not enough weight to keep it firmly on the wheel. Whatever the case, I know the car isn't making 190whp lol because my e36 makes 200whp and when I raced my friend who was driving me e36 last night, it was like the e36 stalled and I took off is how bad of a kill it was lol...
