E30 crisis
Hi, So I have an 1987 E30, a car which I love and have been though a lot with, and if you have a e30 you know exactly what I mean.
My new challenge is quite staggering, so I need some advice.
Car started to hard start and then starts on and off, until crossing an intersection and the car completely shut down on me, I did all the regular test, checked for spark, battery, I had installed new crank shaft and reference sensor but still check them all ok. Also the OBC and the OBC relay, all ok. I discovered that it was indeed the fuel pump that was running and stopping so I bout an after market msd fuel pump pressurising will. How ever now the car wont start at all it swings quite strong but no joy. and the hum i would usually hear from the idle air control valve and have switched it out with a fully functional on. still no joy. I am now at the conclusion that its a main harness problem and not engine harness because everything else is working and before everything else was working. Am I missing something??

Had a hard time following exactly what you were saying in your post about the fuel pressure. Are you sure the new pump is good, spinning in the correct direction and providing fuel pressure to the rail? If yes, did you use a noid light to check for an injector pulse?

Sorry im new to this so had a time trying to reply.
Ok so I checked my Crank shaft sensors. all ok
Checked Coil ok.
Check OBC and OBC relay. all good
Fuel pump was Faulty changed it with a msd one on correctly and working.
Now im not getting current to my pump nor to mu idle control valve. neither am I getting anything from to my plugs current is coming from the coin to the distributor but nothing to the plug wire going to the spark plugs.
all of my other electrics or function checked all the fuses all ok and all my lights and switches working in the car, so fr that reason excluded the engine harness. Hope I haven't confused you further.

Relay is good, fuse is good, still no power to the pump? Something isn't correct, perhaps a wiring issue to the pump.
The pump should activate as soon as you turn the key on (only for a few seconds though and then shut off) and then start up again when you start cranking. How/when are you testing for power at the pump?

ok i have connected the pump direct to make sure its working properly. and it primed and pressurised the system fully. so its connect correctly. but all i did was disconnect the old pump, connected the new one. I stripped the car so now all thats in it is the dash and it's components I traced all the harness to see if i could visibly see anything loose but I couldn't.

Ok, but check for power as soon as you turn on the key (it will only have power for a few seconds then switch off). Power will not come back until you start cranking the engine over. I'm off for now. I'll try to get back on later this evening

Hi so today I switched out the eng harness and the problem persist I check the pump its working perfectly when connect directly to the batt, otherwise no joy no current gets to it. The car swings strong and wont start because im not getting current to the the plugs. and the crank sensors are new I only had them for a few months and the car was working perfectly. Im looking to get a main harness to see if it some where in there. but i dont think it is. could be any other sensor im forgetting to check?
