thinking about installing a comp
so a while back when I read harry was putting a computer in I dreamed about putting a computer in my car. I would like to seriously do it now. Harry do you think you could give me some insight on how you went about putting it in?
im really not sure where to put the monitor, maybe I could see a few pictures of your setup to get some ideas

Sure, mp3car.com is a great place to start. Don't buy a computer from them (complete rip off), but you'll probably end up buying a lot from there for extension cables and SSCs (startup-shutdown controllers). I also would recommend their lilliput 7" lcd touchscreen, as it has supervga for good quality and it fits PERFECTLY in place of the sunglass holder and obd computer in your dash. I also spent HOURS on the phone with the people there, they're very helpful and can explain it very clearly.

Erm, but actually I just realized you have an e30, haha. I'm not sure how that screen would fit in there... try measuring around.

I dont remeber what the console of the E30 looks like very well so you could always try getting a DVD head unit like Harry's and have it hook up to that if theres no room for a flat panel one.

What about angling a screen down by the lighter socket and eliminating the ashtray for additional space? Plenty of room then, and it would detract from the looks of the console.
