problem with cams

Ive been having a lot of trouble with oil leaking out of my engine. At first me and my dad thought it was a bad gasket at the front of the engine so we sealed it up with gasket sealent. It still leaked so we thought it was the tensioner on the timing chain. After today we found it was a small piece of a rubber gasket under the head that was pushed out. This would explain the vacuum leak and not so nice gas mileage. But because of this whole problem my dumbassself let the oil pressure get too low and fired up my cams. The bearings hav some major scores in them from grinding the aluminum on the cams. It was making noise for a few days and I thought it was one of my pullies again... cuz I had previous problems with one of the pullies coming loose cuz it had bad screws in it. we replaced the screws and it shut up. but I didnt think about the oil so now im puttin out money for a new head w/cams for my car. Hopefully it will be here by the end of the week. My head is fine... it was just a package deal... they wouldnt sell me the cams, carriers, and bearings separatly.
But today I put it back together cuz i need a car. I have to start school tomorrow and I need a ride cuz I have work release and I leave around 10 in the morning. So I wanted to know what can go wrong with the car if im running it with bad cams... just temporarily

the car wouldn't run right at all, pretty much same symptoms as a misfire...

its running right now... its making a wierd noise. its not real loud but i think its the cams. the lobes on the cams arnt scratched, its the aluminum rings that ar in between the lobes that fit under the bearings.

You really thought that annoying ticking sound was a pully?

If you were seriously that low on oil your connecting rod bearings might be burnt too. Which might mean a whole new engine if you got the $ or a total rebuild of all the bearings, cams, and crank. You never really know untilly ou take it appart and look at it or hear a certon noise that gives it away.
