Short?
 

ok so like 10 minutes ago, i start my car, and the rigth sig light on on solid, and in the check panel it says that tails and lic lights are out, but the lights work. the fuses all check out fine, any idea's if its a shot or where it would be?

lol, i love your avater umm mine brakelights light up when ever i start up the car i know the wires do get shorted sometimes cause if i mess with the wires to the brake lights a little the brake lights light well stay on even after i tap the brake pedal even thou there working. the bmw manual that came stock with the car said that the brake light check light comes on purpose just so you can remember that your brake lights work before taking off.

On the check display, the brake light warning light should go after once you depress the pedal. This is due to the systems check, because it needs electricity to check the brake light, it won't check it until you press the pedal. If however, it does not go off once you press the pedal, you might have another problem.

Maybe the flasher unit is shot. I'd try putting in another and see what happens ;)

it' wasnt the brakes lights, it was the tails and the lic plate lights that it said were out. but that stopped, just a wonky left signal now i'll have to look at this weekend

take some 220 grit sand paper and sand ever so lightly over the contact points on the panel the comes off the back of the tails that holds the bulbs...it was really a shoddy design but it happens...cured this problem on mine...

well im still getting contsant power to the park lights, ans sid lights. smoke started from underneith the dash board, but can't find any burns. it also shorted out the stereo some how and blew the fuse.


any other ideas i've got this damn thing near stripped and can't find any shorts

I think you need to get the wiring chart for this car and re wire it from scratch I hate to say :videogame
