Amazing ITB setup
All you 12v guys might be interested in this.. this guy on e30tech is running n2o and ITB's on his m20.
its a crazy setup, and really tight... hes custom fabbing absolutely everything, when hes done hes going to tally up the costs.. so far hes 500 in and its pretty close to being done.
btw, the TB's are suzuki 38mm bike throttles, 6 of them all put together.
heres the thread: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/viewtop...er=asc&start=0

that is a sweet setup. In the next few years I will be converting to an ITB setup, but i will be custom machining all the runners myself with calculated runner length and air flow for the exact power and RPM range that i will be running in it is going to pwn all

god i want an itb setup, if not for the performance then definately for the sound!
this looks like its going to be what bmw would have called the s20 maybe?
i'm going to look into those bike tb's though. that could be an interesting way to go about it.

how do you....
I dont know about the airflow/performance increase, but it would be a snap to change fuel injectors
just one question though.... how do you measure airflow into the engine?

what you do is jump into the car, go for a drive, stop at the local bmw performance specialist, and ask him that same question. cos i have absolutely no idea
if someone finds info on setting up itb's, post it on here because i'd really like to give it a shot

So..a plenum box corrects the un-smooth airflow resultant from the ITBs facing directly horizontal from the manifold? I've found a couple mechanical schematics and they all look like that's what it's for.

props for the idea and work, but ITBs on the m20 is worthless. I dont think the amount gained is worth the cost/trouble. He is also far from done. He surely can't use that brake booster either, look at the clearance between the throttlebody at the firewall and the brake booster. There's no room for an airbox and even with a different booster, he's gonna be hardpressed to make a proper airbox. Either way its cool and would love to see the finished product.

the brake booster can always be relocated, or you can used 2 smaller ones instead. a friend of mine is swapping an m50 into an e30 at the moment, the brake booster had to be moved for throttle body clearnace. he's gone for twin smaller boosters located on the other side of the engine bay.
i think itb's would have a useful effect on an m20 only if already had its tits tuned off. i know of a 2.7 stroker over here with itb's but thats running almost 300hp at the crank so i think that was worth while doing
