Strange jerking

I discovered a strange jerking when the vehicle is agressively accelerated from a stop. It is like the engine is missing but it is not. It only showed up when my wife wanted to see if it would sqeal the tires from a stop sign. It showed up again while going up a steep incline where it shifted into low gear. It only occurs under hard acceleration and steep inclines when the engine accelerates to about 3 grand. It doesn't happen under most driving conditions. Any ideas?

This is an automatic. Someone suggested clutch packs whatever the hell they are?

I had the same thing and was told here, which was confirmed by mechanic, that it was "the center support bearing on the driveshaft is blown out (fairly common)".

The part is inexpensive but it takes a bit of labour to get to it. It cost me about $350 CAD before tax to get it done. I had other stuff done at the same time so I'm not exactly sure of the breakdown of the price but it was around that. Now it drives beautifully without hesitation.

Just a thought.

Clutch packs are the friction discs in the auto trans that enable different gears to be selected. A surge would more likely be caused by blown flex disc (or Guibo, different name same part). A center support bearing would generally be accompanied by a knocking noise from the drive shaft tunnel when it happened.
