I think im buying an e30
Yeah.. im going to go check a really nice one out tomorrow, il take lots of pics and post em here, Talked to the guy for about a half hour, he owns 3 e30's and a 97 M3, the e30 im checking out has a tottally new suspension, he was turning it into a track car.. so it should be really tight.
Its black on tan leather and he said the paint and interior are spotless. Only bad thing is its got 220 on the motor, although im really not worried about that... Hes also got another one thats black on red with 107k on it, but its in storage in maine right now..
Anyways im going to give my car to my dad then hes going to buy the e30 for me.. not a bad deal at all on his part cause the e30 is going to cost about 2500 and my car cost 4500. Since i own my e36 in full now, im going to buy it back from him next summer for 2500 bucks. Hes basically just going to own half of my e36 for 7 months or so then hes going to buy a pickup.

I've always toyed with the idea of buying an E30 as a second car. My nephew (UB handle is Celsdogg) has a '91 and I've grown to like it a lot. I wouldn't worry about the 220 on the motor either, your guy sounds like he maintains his Bimmers well. Let us know how it works out, 'coz I might just blow next year's tax return on one.

Check out roadfly.com, theres a very very nice looking eta for sale in jersey right now, its red and lowered nicely with a dinan chip. I bet you could snag it for 2000-2500.

^^and built like a tank. Unlike the E36, which I heard was the first 3 series designed on CAD. They apparently made too many assumptions based on the computer drawings instead of real world testing.
C4talyst, thanks, sounds tempting, but I still have a ways to go restoring my current 3er

Who would want one of those dreadful E30s? I hear they even have four cylinder versions; imagine how awful those must be!

Get the e30, I am in love with mine and hope to never have to sell it. I want to still own this car when I die. Hopefully I will have a bit of a collection by that time

Well yea obviously i havent posted the pics soo.. yea it fell through, i called the guy up for his address so i could put it in map quest the next morning, and we got to talking and turns out he wants 5 grand for it, its been his baby and it has a very highend suspension, coilovers, race bushings, huge sways, rims, tires, everything.. so i dont blame him.
But my dad is interested in the one he has for sale in maine, so i may go check that one out eventually.
