87 325e Cabriolet overheating - any ideas ?

Hi everybody, My 87 cabriolet temp. is rising to near red line when the engine is turned off after abt 30mts driving. When started and driving temp goes back down. Anybody has the same experience perhaps, let me know. Thanx in advance for your contribution.

is your aux fan turning on?
start with the simple stuff like coolant level then check the thermostat and make sure your system has no air in it.
