Rear wheel bearing replacement?

My right rear wheel bearing is giving out on me. The parts are inexpensive but I've read some horror stories online about how hard it is to replace the bearing. I can't afford to buy the special BMW tool, and I also can't afford to pay for hours of labor at a shop. Is this a job that any of you have successfully tackled?

Not really, you need the tool or equivalent to do it. Unless you want to remove the entire swing arm assembly and do it in a press.
