91 325 engine makes ticking noise when accelerating at low rpms from a stop???

I just bought a E30 325 convertible and I drove it from FL to NC and it worked great. I just noticed a few things about it. It is not perfect but with a little TLC I think it will be pretty solid. I noticed a bad noise from the engine when I accelerate at low rpms. Sounds like a rattle and it is in the front of the engine near the bumper and near the Distributer cap. Any suggestions on what might be a good few things to check out?

I'd be checking the belts, and accessory drives to start with.

I am taking it to a shop in Charlotte called Eurowise, these guys are pretty cool. I've been taking my sisters 05 A6 there and these guys just do engine work and other performance mods. They always seem to have some nice cars at the shop and treat us well, so I'm taking my car there to have them adjust the valves, I think the engine noise is a loose valve. Plus there is a vibration in the rear which i suspect is a prop shaft...... I think its called a prop shaft anyways, I'm used to 4wd Rovers with driveshafts to solid axels...

The convertible top is not work right now though, everything is connected but there is no power to it. I'm still pretty green as to where the fuses and relays are for everything, but I suspect it is something stupid that wont let it get power either that or I just dont know how to opperate it.
