e30 m10 2nd and 3rd cylinder wont fire

hello,
I have an 85 318i that is frustrating me to no end.
My second and third cylinders are not combusting, the plugs look clean(never fired) and smell slightly of gas and, when i pull out the wire to either of those two cylinders no effect to the rpm or running of the car.
i tryed replacing the injectors, distributor cap and rotor. and i have switched the wires around to no effect. using a screw driver as a "stethascope" i can hear the injectors clicking. i have even pulled off the valve cover to check lobes on the cam and they are fine.
i did at one point have the distributor out of the engine. i dont know if having the gear at teh bottom of the distributor shaft misaligned could account for some fo the symptoms.

please help me and thank you very much for you time,

-Fed up

You need to do a compression test.
