Car+water=disaster
My very special husband drove my 85 325e through flood water for some unknown f****** reason. No water in the cabin. As he cleared the water, my sweet car cut off and has yet to be started. He tried to crank it and the starter tried to turn the engine but the engine sounds like it is locked up! Everything works: starter, alternator, battery, fuses etc... All of the lights and dash lights, AC still working. We tried to jump start it (5 speed) but the back wheels locked up. Will my black beauty survive or do I need to trade it in right along with HIM?

Yikes! You very well could have a case of hydrolock! My advice is DO NOT MAKE ANY FURTHER ATTEMPTS AT STARTING this car, then get it to a dealer or mechanic to take the cylinder head off and see what's happening, and hope there isn't any further engine damage, such as bent rods. As to what to do with, or to, your husband, I'm sure you'll find plenty of witnesses for the defense.

LOL! Thanks for the info. He will be up late tonight checking to see if the engine will turn by manually turning the crankshaft, among other things. Well I take satisfaction with the fact that he won't be getting his Ford Dulley if my engine has to be replaced!!!

Pull out all of the spark plugs, crank the engine and stand clear. Depending on how fast the engine was spinning you most likely will have bent/shortened rods. replace the plugs and try again to start. Chances are it's new engine time, and yes I'll be a witness for the defense too.........

Just an update.....
My car has been restored. It took a few oil changes and a major tune up to get my car back in the fast lane. Guess I'll keep the hubby for a while. I will keep her(my car) until the first of the year and then she is going to transform into a 2003 or 2004 750il. I deserve it. Thank for all the advice guys. Pics are coming soon.
