E21, E30General discussion and technical help for 1975-1991 3 series cars.
We want this forum to be one of the best forums out there, but as you can tell right now it isn't. That is where you guys come in. Please use this forum extensively and let us know how it can be improved. We will listen to any idea, whether it be about colors, user ranks, custom titles, general layout, sub-forums, or anything else you can possibly think of.
Just make a thread here stating what you think should be done to improve this site.
Also for anyone else, please post, post then post some more and share your thoughts and opinions on any suggestion that comes up. Depending on the response a certain idea gets, can help make it happen for this site. So post what you think, whether you agree or disagree.
Whatever you do, do not make fun of, bash, or ridicule someone for their ideas. Just politely disagree and let us know why you felt that way.
**We also need your help in finding more bmw owners for the site! If you find some members try to get them to put your name as the referer! that way we know whos actively bringing in members**
Hi, I may have an idea, although I am not sure how good results this may have:
In my opinion, one problem of this forum is the fact that it is a united forum for two different BMW models, E21 and E30.
I think that fans are interested mainly in threads about their own model.
As the thread titles are not always including the model's name (for example: a thread is not always: "Problems with E21" or "E30 with new suspension" or similar, but most of the times are like: "My car won't start in the morning" etc.), this makes search of interesting threads more difficult for somebody who is interested only in one of the two models.
At least that is the case with me. I have to open one threads to read what it's all about, and then just close it and go to the next, and this makes it difficult-just think the time it takes to close one and open another...
Yes, I also think so...
Especially owners of older models (E21 is my case) may not be so much interested for BMW cars in general, but more for their own model series, in maintaining issues, finding parts etc. What is more, the E30 owners are so many, compared to E21 owners...So in this forum (for E21 and E30), an E21 owner looses so much time in order to find the posts that he/she may be interested in...
I wonder if the reason that the two series were put together was because many of us that have been into the three series cars, started out with either the 2002s or e21s. I know I did way back in 1979 with a 74 2002. I've been driving BMW's since then. The e21 and the e30 are lot alike in that they both are down to business basic BMW's that are still affordable and alot of fun to drive.
Well, don't all series have similarities, each one with the series before and the next??
No, I really think that an E21 specific forum, even though it might have only a few users, (way more are E30 users) it should be more appealing to E21 fans, in order to discuss various issues etc. At the moment, I am not using the forum almosta at all.: As it I find difficult and boring to be searching through a mostly E30 subject forum in order to find the few E21 threads...
Zulfa, Bentley service manuals are available online and can be purchased on eBay for a relatively low cost. Some sites have the manual as a PDF download but their over 600+ pages long. Personally I prefer having the manual in front of me when working on the car.
