Cluster alternator warning light

It says in the Hayes manual:

"On 1982 through 1986 models, a burned-out dashboard warning light will prevent the alternator from charging the battery. After 1987 a resistor is wired in parallel with the warning light in order to allow current to bypass the light in the event of a broken circuit (burned out light)."

Does anyone have any information about the resistor needed?

Ive personally never heard of a resistor as you speak of. My question is why not replace the bulb?

What information have I given you indicates that I haven't changed the bulb?
