hello all!! and thank you for letting me join...

obviously I have a bmw and have technical issues with it.I have a 1984 bmw 318 i yeah...so anyways i have spend alot of backbreaking leaning over in the engine bay testing for current, ohms resistance...and finally I'm stuck.I replaced the battery and the alternator.checked the bulbs in the new si board all good.I even replaced the ecu.so moving on to my problem i have spark and fuel. But there is a wire that leads from a aluminum box above the ecu above the glove box that goes to the back of the alternator that is supposed to have 2 amps of current and reads 0.this is meant to turn on the stater in the alternator to charge the battery which when barely running reads 11.88 amps and should be 14.4.anyways does anyone one what the aluminum box is called? does anyone have the same car i do and would be willing to read me off the part number for it ? i could replace it if i have a part number....by the way the si board was corroded from old batteries,so i got a batteryless one from programma as well as a ecu....can anyone point me in the right direction?
