325is stroker
Recently I bought myself the E30 restoration bible, and the first section I looked into was modifying your E30. There was a stroker section in there. I read that you can use the Eta crank and rods with later "i" euro pistons. That would give a compression of around 10:1. Is this really possible? I've read somewhere that the pistons would stick out 3mm. My plan was to do that, with 1mm oversize custom pistons to euro compression spec, and valve reliefs. Would they really stick out 3mm above the deck, or is this just a myth?
-thanks for reply.

Ok, do yourself a favor and forget it. By the time you buy all the stuff tear it down and do all the stuff you NEED to do to get it right (yeah there's volumes of stuff to go through....seriously) you'd be far better off buying a turbo kit, getting the necessary boost retard and turbo timer modules, following the directions and running about 6-6.5 pounds of boost. You'll get an effective compression ratio of about 12:1 and can run it on 91 octane pump gas. Not to mention you won't need to build the holy hell out of the engine. Just out of curiosity though, what's wrong with your "is" in stock form? I have an 87 and it's extremely rare that I come across something I can't beat and almost never come across anything I can't out drive, and yes it's stock.

If you ever get the info on how it's done and exactly what parts are required let me know.Seems the magazines keep showing these 325s with low cost easy to do conversions but I can't find anyone who knows how to do it or just says it's a myth. Bob.
