Hi

I have a E30 1989 316i car. Very recently engine not getting start. Then I replaced the battery. But still the same result. When turn the key, starter make "tick" noise. It seems like solonoid working. But starter not rotates. If push the car,can start it. I checked the wires too. those are ok. Also while holding the ignition switch on possition and when give direct 12V to starter. Then it is getting start. What cold be the reason. Please help me to solve it.

Thank you

Best Regards
Channa

First U should take car to Auto Zone or same sort of place and check to make sure your altenator is charging ur battery. Sounds like starter is bad but the clicking noise makes me think ur alternator isn't charging battery. Could be way off but easy to have checked and free.

Hi

I just managed to repaire my self. I removed the starter. I found starter carbon brushes worned. I purchased similar size carbon 04 bruches and soldered. Now it is working perfectly. Thanks for everyone who replied.
