Suspensions are fun
Here are a couple shots of my new stuff installed, turns out the used lsd i bought was a piece and blew up when they tried to move the car so i'm back to the open one until I can source another. I should be getting the car back tomorrow and I will update this to let you know how it feels.

Was the diff used or rebuilt?
|
used, so i got a bad deal and when it wasn't in the car it seemed like it was operating properly. So I go back to having an open diff until I have a little more cash to get a good unit.

Well I got the car this afternoon and it feels great still need to spend some time trying to find the new limit and thankfully I get to track it in a couple weeks which should be a blast, I can tell its noticeably stiffer and feels very flat and controlled, I need to play with the swaybar settings and find what I like right now its set up where it should probably oversteer a little which should be fun. I took a couple pics when i got back home for your enjoyment because they cleaned it for me.

Are the sways 2-way adj. fr. and 3-way adj. rear?
Btw, from the pics it looks like your running Hankook R-S2s; do you use them for auto-x, track or just street? Impressions? Cheers, |
Nick, the car looks champ - like! I'm amazed! I think a 318is like yours is better balanced than the 325i weight wise. :shades

I like the hankooks, I have not autoxed them or tracked them yet, only street driving and I really like the levels of grip from them. In a couple weeks I will run them at a day at the track since i'm not quite ready for a set of r comps for the track. I will report back and let you know how they do. Thanks for the comments Witey, the 318is IS better balanced then the 325, near 50/50 front back from the factory and the lightest of all the e30s, so now i'm just really trying to improve on that. |

As for the tires, I ran Direzza Z1s at a track event last summer; awesome tire that outperformed the Yokos and B-stones and 50% cheaper; problem is that Dunlop NA has replaced them with an OE tire and so far no 235/40/17 or 245/40/17...:dunno |
Thanks for the input. Yes they are IEs e30 adjustable bars. evidently the guys at my shop talked at length to the guys at ireland about their recommended settings, I need to do a little homework on what should do what (but stiff rear seems more apt for oversteer then a soft rear), and the play with it some myself. The good news is the Shop does its own track days throughout the summer and that would be great to let me go out for a couple laps and try something and come in make a change and go back out and get a nice side by side comparison. I'm also looking into getting some r comps for my basketweaves or maybe some lightweight wheels if i get a nice raise in a few months.

Hey! Nick! Now you can take those curves a little faster, good luck! E30 looks Godly!!!
