Everything is cold

Alright since I forgot my bentley manual at my parents house I figured I'd ask you all. First is something I believe is related to the thermostat, My engine always seems to hover at 1/4 tempurature. Secondly I dont get much if any heat from the heater. Do I just have to replace fluids for that or has my heater core crapped out. And I hate to say it but everything is going to be speculation until like Feb 29th when I go home, I figured it'd be fun to research lol. Anyway right now I dont know much about the heating and cooling system symptoms right now so any speculation will be appreciated.

^+1 sounds like a bad t-stat or a valve not opening all the way. As far as not getting above 1/4 warm i dont think thats really an issue although most of these hover right around the half way mark.

this happened to me too .if its the same problem there is a electric vavle that opens and closes to let coolent into the heater core its controlled by your cold hot switch on your console any way if this does not open and close you cant anything to your heater core. its on the end of the heater core and is apart of heater core itself cant miss it .i would check to see if you are getting power to it first before you go tearing out the heater core not a fun job .good luck.ps its on the drivers side of the heater core and its attached to hoses coming thru the fire wall .

Hi. Before you star pulling things apart make sure the cable is working between the hot/cold switch and the heater control valve.

it should be a electric in his case the cable just closes the vent off not the valve itself make sure have power to valve .

Do you get to the heater core through the inspection opening in the fire wall and removing the heater blower, or do you mess with the dash?

I've done the heater blower thing for my windshield wipers... it's not fun.

no all you havt to do is remove the shift cosole if you really want to get at .if your just checking power to the valve i think can see it and the hoses without pulling anything its to the right of your gas peddle. between the fire wall and console you will see to hoses coming thru attached to the valve its in cased in black plastic cant miss it.good luck

Just start with a t-stat. It will only take you 20 minuets to do and costs the cheapest.
I just did one on my e34, same problem as you, takes forever to heat up and doenst blow hot, did a water pump too. Now the heat burns my feet.
