E21, E30General discussion and technical help for 1975-1991 3 series cars.
Yesterday I got home and shut the car off. Everything fine and no problems. When I went to start up the car after an hour it just cranked and when it turned over it acted like it was barely getting fuel. Today, after getting a fuel pump, I decided to check the power going to the pump and there was none. I went to check if it was getting a spark at the wires and no spark either. I ran the diagnostics and shows me a 1444 code(no faults) and am sorta stumped now. Does anyone have a guess as to what it could be???? Thanks.

I was told by some friends to check my Crank Position Sensor because it sends a pulse to the ECU so it can tell the ignition to spark. So I got a new CPS and walla, spark at the plugs. After that victory, I started tracing the power for the pump and finally traced it to the pump just gave up out of the blue. A friend is pulling one for me tomorrow morning. Hopefully that solves my problems for now. WIll keep you posted as to what happens when I change the pump tomorrow. Thanks for the help and advice guys.

M.C. (mission complete) After some further checks I realized with the help of some friends that E30 fuel pumps don't come on until you start cranking the engine. The pump seized. Got one today and she is finally running. I appreciate the help from all. Thanks
