Good Deal or Not?

Well i am currently looking for a BMW. I was going to go with a e36 but figured id hold off and get something that is a little more DIY friendly and simpler so thats why i picked a e30. This will be my first e30.

I came across a 89' 325ix

So far this is the info i have gotten on it:

200k on it. This car had a fresh transfer case, shocks and springs installed this summer ($2,000). I just installed a ball joint and I am having an ABS sensor installed. it has in the past 2 years a new exhaust, gas tank, starter, timing belt, winter tires and a full comprehensive service at a local BMW shop. I have had the sunroof, trunk and drivers door repainted as of 3 years ago. it does have rust on the right door, front quarter and rear quarter. It does not have a functioning A/c.

He is asking $3k. I am going to go look at it next week sometime. Just woundering what everyone thought.

I dont know how to host pics but if somone could for me i can send you them via e-mail i would really appreciate it.

looks like the guy did a lot of fixing on the car, but for the mileage and rusty areas i think 3k is a tad too much. just my 2 cents

when i hear rust it just gets me paranoid

I believe the E30 325ix is a rare model, so you may wanna get input from the E30 guys here . . could be worth getting. Maybe that's why he's asking for $3k.

well... without considering the rust I'd say it's worth it. However I'd check to see how extensive the rust really is because that IMO is the determining factor in buying an e30.

EDIT: Also I dont have much experience with the ix. I did KBB and it said around $2k. Normally I'd pay up to $4k for a one that had that much done to it but with the rust I'd stick with around $2k. I mean what the hell the parts on that car alone are worth more than $2k and you could get one with a good frame and just transfer stuff. All depends on how much free time you have.

No ac and that much rust I wouldn't pay 3k for a car with 200k on the motor.

the ac problem could probably be rectified fairly easily. as for the rust, that depends on if its rusted thru or its just surface rust that can steel wooled off and repainted.

$3k is a bit higher than normal, but it is an iX, which is kick ass. 2 LSD's 200k isnt that much on the motor, but i would probably rebuild it soon (im feeling myself coming on one soon).

maybe as a nice project car or something. . .

The T-case was a used one that he had inspected before it was installed. It was an auto but he converted it at 130k. He said he has some of the maint records but not all of them. I am going to look at it next week. Can anyone host pics for me. I can e-mail them to you. It be greatly appreciated.

Looks really good to me. Where is all the rust I would be happy to get my hands on a car like that.

1. The seats have covers and are probably ripped to shit
2. 200k
3. Shit RIMs
4. Craked Dash
5. Peeling Clear Coat
6. Rust at the Bottom of the right Front Quarter panel.
7. Antenna stuck up?

Other then what I noted it looks like a pretty decent car, I still wouldn't pay a dime over $2200 for it though
