stainless still headers and three inch exhast bad low idle?
as you know i have been having problems getting my car to idle at 700 to 800 rpm's .the rpm's jump up and down from 500 to 1200 rpms at idle bad jumping now at cold temp searches and settles at 1k to 1100 k at warm temp. replaced f,p,r .icv, the intire throttle body with tps,new intake boot ,new vacumm hoses, idle control brain green box next to ecu ,now for my question i have stainless steel headers with a three inch exhast and three inch cat that goes striaght back into a magnaflow exhast .my question is that do you think that this might be tied to my car only wanting to idle at 1k to 1,100 k before the idle will even out and steady.i was thinking maybe i dint have the proper back pressure to keep it running at low rpm's and maybe the ecu is trying to even out my idle at low rpm's and cant hence the jumping up and down at cold and settling at 1k or more at fully warm .just a thought if it sounds crazy or it aint even possible let me know your thoughts just running out ideas on this idle issue .dont want to keep poring money into it just to have the idle still being a ass! thanks

IDT that your exhaust change can cause that. I still think that it might be a vaccum line or a breather line. Have you also checked your MAF sensor? My idle was being stupid a while back and traced it down to 2 things, my MAF and the TPS.

i swapped 2 ICV's yesterday (used) and idle was same, unplugged each as car was running and idle did not even hesitate, could it be something else, perhaps my oxygen sensor or something, i mean why wouldn't the ECU identify when the ICV is unplugged?

Hi, I have '84 318i and live in Long Island. I've been using Little Garage and would like to find someone who really does cars of my era. Anyone know of a reputable shop on LI for old bmw?
