E21, E30General discussion and technical help for 1975-1991 3 series cars.
so i havent driven the 318 for about three weeks due to the 100 degree weather. The car doesnt have a functional Ac..so the 330 works better in the heat.
so i washed her off, gave her a wax and put her under a cover in the shade. Wen to drive her after 3 weeks, everything was fine, went to pick up a movie and got some coffee...came back turned her off and was planning on driving her in the am to work.
the car started, sputtered for about 30 seconds and died. started it again, died again. left it cause i had to get to work, so i took the 330 again.
tonight i go to try and figure out whats wrong with it, and nothing. it just turns over, runs for a few seconds and dies.
checked the vacuum hoses, which i replaced 15k ago, all attached. What else could be wrong?
I swapped ignition wires 20k ago and plugs 7k ago.
any other ideas? Car had no prior symptoms, ran like a ferrari the day before. (heh u know what i mean)

Water is heavier and will be at the lowest point - an alcohol based "gas dry" can counter that
kk ill check at an auto parts store tomarow. Hopefully ill have time to look into this before next week. Ill try this and see what happens.

Numark, you're definitely not getting enough air or fuel. Sounds like fuel since it sputters out. An engine can run lean with little air for a longer time than with little fuel. <--- My experience.
