hey, welcome! nice car(s), nice garage, and nice engine

as far as pointers, when i did an engine swap on an e36 i took off the subframe(steering rack, suspension) and the front end(bumper, radiator support, radiator) and the engine goes in very very easily and those things arent very hard to re attatch

btw, are you british? dont usually hear the term powerplant in the states

Um can I have your mini, I will do some hunting there are a few places that have guides available that will tell you the step by step process on how to do it. Forgive me I might not get to it right away but I will see what I can do.

Welcome, and I'm serious can I have your mini!

An M50 with VANOS? Wow, you're ambitious! That's gonna be a bitch, best of luck. I wish I had pointers but I've never done a swapout

I hate linking to another forum but we have had only a few guys do m50 or other swaps and they haven't chimmed in yet. So follow this and it should be helpful:

http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=45442

E30tech also has a lot of people who have done a swap a good search there might turn up more results too: www.e30tech.com

After those two you should have a lot more info then we have here but I hope you will stick around and tell us about the swap so we can get some more knowledgeable people here, good luck.

You should put the M50 in the Mini cooper and drive that.
