Headlights - Polishing?

My headlights are looking a bit aged - is there any way to re-polish them/buff them?
Was considering using a really fine sand paper, and then going finer, but not too sure - any ideas?

Headlight [polishing

For plastic covers, buy one sheet each of 800/1000/1500/2000/2500 wet and dry sand paper 9the bl;ack stuff) and a bottle of plastic polish (I use Meguires Plastix). Wash the headlights and keep them wet, put the sandpaper in a bucket of water, start with 800 grit paper and sand horizontally (keep the paper and headlight wet at all times) after the crud disappears, move to 1200 and keep on moving to higher number. after sanding is done, dry lens and polish with the plastic polish 9any direction). I have done this on several cars and the results are great.

^^^Also a good idea to use a spray bottle and constantly squirt water on the lenses as you're sanding.

Honestly, I'm too lazy to do that, so I put Zymol cleaner wax on them every two months or so, they look like new.

"0000" steel wool and a good polish. "0000" steel wool like you use on chrome (it doesn't scratch it) and a good sealer/polish works wonders on glass.

I was thinking of going the wet sandpaper route.... going finer and finer until I'm down to the finest grade possible - would that make any diff?

This is a great idea so repair after the fact isn't needed. I hear that car wax does as well also

Windshield restoring hone that chucks into a drill. I found them in classic car restoration when replacing a glazed windshield is not an option. Check a local glass store.
