E30 transmission fluid change and gasket change

has any1 done a fluid change on a E30 and also cleaned the pan, replaced o-ring and gasket?

i managed to find some DIY's on other bmw models but those were newer trannys and it looks like the E30 is easier to do.

what is the preferred choice of tranny fluid besides that expensive dealer crap.

i am planning to change the front rotors/pads and also do the tranny, my dad is going to help since he knows about rotors/pads, but i wanted to touch basis on the tranny fluid change if any had pointers here. Thanks in advance

P.S. if any1 has a DYI link is greatly appreciated.

yesterday in the mail i ran into a coupon for a tranny fluid service for 90$,includes gasket and filter. it's one of the local shops "good year" i think is called, i don't know if they are a nationwide chain.

is it safe to take it for tranny change to one of these mostly "domestic" oriented vehicles shops" or always to a certified BMW shop. what is your thought?

can they really screw it up:shifty

I just used A Dexron III ATF when i swapped the tranny out of my 325e, It was over a year ago, but i remember the pan being a pain to get back on with the gasket, and making sure the fluid level was perfect took a little bit of time,
