Hello

Well I'm new to the board, but i've had a 1987 325 as my DD for a little over two years now. It is a wonderful car and I had always meant to mod it a little but never had the time or the option to since it was my only ride. A little over a month ago I got a 2006 GTO and well no I feel free to work on the 325 a little. Now the engine that is on it only has 80k miles since the guy i bought it from had it replaced shortly before I bought it, I was wondering first off how do I find out if its an Eta engine or if he put an I engine in it. Two if its still an Eta engine what can I do as far a performance. No I won't do any engine swapping but as far as simple stuff what can be done. I'm thinking about the Dinan chip and performance exhaust, then 1-3/4 headers a conical air filter and hand make a special air box for it. I already removed the plastic wall in front of where the air goes into the intake (Its the plastic wall behind the lights on the right side). But besides these things what can I do, I'm more than likely going to send it to Spain this summer so I can have a nice car over there when I go on vacations. In time I'll probably try to get another one and put one of those skyline engines in it.

First, welcome to the forums If you're not sure about engine swaps there may be some searching to do.

Thanks for the welcome! I just don't feel comfortable having an engine swap done, especially since after July I won't be using it more than a month a year. Now like I said I've seen a few viable options, which I have outline in the intial post. I know the 88 model Eta engines can have the heads swapped and that would do a lot, but I've been reading its not so simple for a a pre 88. the car looks like it had been modded before I bought it since the battery is in the trunk rather than on the battery tray and the exhaust tubing is 3 different parts very poorly welded in different places. Basically I'd say a 4k budget is more or less what I'm shooting for. Anything I can't get done while I'm here I can have done over there after shipping some parts out from here.
