so..i called my mechanic friend. who refered me to a place called bavarian tunning in santa rosa.

He races a 2003(?) M3, hes on his way to daytona beach right now...gonna go race. heh.

anyway, he said if the M42 is ticking something is not right because its hydralic timing and shouldnt go out of tune. So....something broke. Hes gonna take a look at it and talk to me about it next week when he gets back from Florida. Hmp is all i can say.

im not an expert on the M42, i have done some minor work to them.. but is there a tensioner for the timing chain? the m20 belts sometimes get a bit of slack and the tensioner needs to be adjusted.

just a thought i had.
