Oil Help!

My 06 525xi started complaining it was low on oil, and to add some immediately, so I did. Unfortunately all that was available was a "regular" oil and not a synthetic. So net result is I've got 1 quart of regular oil mixed in with the regular synthetic already in there. Now that I look, the car manual recommends "BMW High Performance Synthetic Oil" but under the hood it says "BMW recommends Castrol". I put in neither.

I am due for a service and oil change and have my appt on Dec 21 to go in. I will probably drive another 400 miles until then.

Is this mix going to blow up the engine?

Is it the end of the world as we know it or am I OK?

Thanks!
G

You should be fine. Just put synthetic in next time. BMW recommends it, they don't insist it.

As mentioned, you'll be ok - BMW synthetic & Castrol synthetic are both compatable with "reg. oils"

You'll be ok. When you take it in for a FREE service....they drain ALL your OLD oil in your car and put brand NEW synthetic Castrol in.

Yippe!!!

What packages do you have?

No, you're not dreaming - when you buy a new BMW your first couple of years of maintenace services are free.

"Cells" - no-one said lifetime, it's a limited time/mileage program offered to new car buyers - it's like 3 or 4 years and like 60k mileage on maintenance/service items only. The only thing BMW has ever mentioned lifetime on was on trans fluid and that's being changed back to bi-annual.
