E12, E28, E34, E39, E60General discussion and technical help for all year 5 series cars.
I just purchased by FIRST BMW, LOVE THE CAR!!! SO...all that aside, I realize from the posts on this and other sites that my 97 528i may be prone to "check engine" light probs. Any suggestions as far as what are the usual "quirks" to look out for, etc. All help appreciated. I will try to post a pic, it is stock, and a "sleeper" for a 6 cyl. Love the drive and power avail.
Thanx.
prone to CEL? meh, thats new to me, however, first thing you want to do, if you really care, is just make sure your car has had the service maintence and that it isnt overdue, if it is, do it, then you should be ok.. is that what you were asking, or were you asking in terms of modifications? if you want to modify it, just a good place to start is change ur tail lights and corner lights so they dont have any orange in them, trust me it looks much better.. ^^ look at his signature

not check engine lights.... but tail light outage warning lights. my mom's 2000 528i gets upset when so replace the tail light bulbs with anything but Osram Brand bulbs.
btw, welcome and congrats
