Your Ride: future BMW owner
Need advice - want to buy 98 528i
Hi all.
Trying to join the Bimmer community with a possible purchase of a first BMW. Here is the prospective car:
1998 BMW 528i, aspen silver exterior with light grey leather interior, premium package, cold weather package, 101K miles, 90k mile service was done, brakes (disk and pads) were done at 95K, auto tran.
Private seller is asking $9100.
What should I look for during test drive and mechanical inspection? What near term maintenance costs should I expect? What preventive maintenance should I do?
Also, I live in the Chicago - downtown area. Can anyone recommend a great private mechanic - I'm assuming this is a better option than having a dealership service it. Also, I would want to tint the windows so can you recommend tint percentages for the windows and where I can get it done.
I'm looking forward to your replies so thank you in advance for any advice you can share.
