Loss of Power

The RPMs drops everytime I try to go over 3000 rpms... What could be the problem? Being stationed in Seoul, South Korea doesn't help... The BMW mechanics here want to keep the car for two weeks and charge me $1000 just to look under the hood. I've already had the sensors, filters, plugs, etc. replaced... and I'm still feeling the loss of power. Although it does go over 3000 after I've been driving for a couple of hours and increased the octane in the gas. Please Help!!

I'm no expert but couldn't it be a problem with your rev limiter? My step-dad drives a s2000 and when it's really cold out his rev limiter kicks in much sooner then it's supposed to.

Does it feel like it's running out of fuel or is it a really abrupt cut off? (trying to narrow down your symptoms)

Do you hear any type of rattle, and is there a loss of gas mpg?
