Question Suspension help!!please help

I just sold my '93 325is and purchased a '97 540i.. So for my first upgrade i decided to change springs and struts. I purchased H&R race springs and bilstein sport struts. Installing the struts and the springs in the rear did not give me any problems at all, sits perfectly. However When I dropped the front back on the floor there is about a 4" gap between my fender and the wheel on both sides .....the front is so high. So I decided to use my stock struts with the new spring to see if there was a default with the spring, everything is fine. So its not the springs..any help would be greatly apprciated..oh yeah....I had to reuse the metal plate from my original struts that the spring sits on when putting together the front bilsteins....could this be an issue. A friend told me that the front just needed to settle in.. BUT com' on 4 INCHES?? something must be wrong!! Please help me out guys open to any suggestions....thanx

I put M5 springs in with Bilstein sports and the front sat 3+ inches higher too. But after about 100 miles it came down. The springs do have to settle (actually seat) into the upper strut mounts. Did you tighten everything up before setting on the ground? If you did that's your problem - don't do final tightening until the "full load" of the car is on the ground.

I know for a fact that the springs are okay because when I put the springs on the factory struts the car sits nice, been driving on it all weekend, the ride is not he best though. However I did tighten everything before It was back on the ground. I'll try that thanx

yeah dude, once I had to change a tire on one of my front wheels and after ward it sat really high, all you have to do is drive a short distance and it will settle out.
